This is the personal blog of Tim. Here, Tim writes on anything he has enough inspiration to finish a post on. That usually ends up being matters of science, pop culture, technology, religion, and philosophy.

This blog is around nine years old, which is over a third of Tim's current age. Back in 2003, it was called "Of Tim: Tim's life - or lack thereof", and it was as bad as you might expect the blog of a freshman in high school to be. Tim hopes that his writing is a little better, these days.

Tim welcomes any input that you, the dear reader, might have. Comments are very much appreciated, especially if you have a dissenting opinion. If you'd like to learn more about Tim, you might want to see his facebook or google+.

Also: Tim is a very avid consumer of various sorts of music. You may be interested in his playlists!

Continuing with my gaming phase over the past few days...

A game I'm really looking forward to has finally gone gold. Fable, an RPG long in the making, is going to ship on September 14th. (I already have mine pre-ordered from EB, although I'm too poor to get fast shipping, so I'll have to wait 5 days. :-()

EDIT: I just learned that they offered free 3-day shipping! Huzzah for not waiting over the weekend!

In any case, IGN has done an excellent review of it, which covers most of the bases. They ended the article by stating it wasn't as good as KotOR, which has been hailed as one of the greatest RPGs made to date. Having not played the game yet I can't really make a fair comparison, and I find it almost impossible to believe that Big Blue Box, the developer of Fable, would abandon a few really cool elements such as being able to steal clothing from your enemies, and seeing young children get haircuts like your own (you can do that, you know, get haircuts and stuff) is something I just don't understand why they would drop.

EDIT: It appears TeamXBox has made a review as well, which has a little bit more informative (IMO) than IGN's. Here it is. They gave Fable a 9.1, whereas IGN gave it a 9.3. Gamespot has yet to make a full review.

My week hasn't been all that great, but, things have been up and down, and I'm a bit bored.

So I decided I should do a little review on Dead or Alive 3. Daniel and I bought it a few months ago for 15-ish bucks (used). It's a part of a series, although I haven't played the previous two. There's another one coming out soon, Dead or Alive: Ultimate, which promises to be good as well. Here's a quick rundown on it all.

Graphics: Being a release game, it's very, very well polished. They did a superb job on the models, each of the characters has its own look, (including the females *mutter*) and you even get that whole "each individual strand of hair" look. Very solid.

Gameplay: What it lacks in originality, it makes up for in a very solid, balanced set of characters. There are 13 characters total, each having 3 different costumes (different models or colorings), some with more. Each character has between 60-200 moves and combos available to do, and each of these have different animations, some of which provide for a very cool looking fight scene. (Daniel can tell you the same thing) It's all fairly well balanced, too. As for the story mode, the plot was weak, easy to complete, and more like something they threw in for the heck of it. Each character had a 1-2 minute cutescene after having completed the story mode, which were quite cool, but still weak in plot. There's a sparring mode in which you can just fight an invincible opponent, go through all of your moves list, focus on specific combos, really a very nice touch. The shining star of the game is the versus mode, which comes in two version: 1v1, and tag team. Tag team works like it sounds, you slap in your ally at any time, and occasionally do combination attacks along with your ally. When it comes to levels, there aren't too many, (about 10 for 1v1, 5 for tag team) but each has its own effects (explosions, breaking through walls, jumping off ledges to new areas) and all look very pretty.

Sound: This aspect was also slightly lacking, as the music was not of the greatest variety, and did not support the mood of the game well. Each character also had all their own sounds, usually for each move and combo. Sometime a little reptitive, but not usually.

My score: 8.7

Busy day, indeed. Sam spent the night last night (he came over about 6:00) and we had a lot of fun. We watched a lot of Family Guy and Chapelle's Show, played DoA3, laughed at my brothers antics, listened to music (of many assortments), and talked. It was really, really, really good to have him over for the last time. We woke up about 12:00 today and he left abotu 1:00 PM. Afterwards I walked down to the Commons with Christopher and Jonothan and ate lunch at Benchwarmers, then took a bus to the mall and walked around, they bought CDs, I just listened to stuff, got a moccha, my dad drove over and we watched The Village (good movie, definately not Shyamlyan's best, though), and we came home. That was about 9:30. I watched a little bit of Starsky and Hutch (very funny) with my dad and Christopher.

I'm tired. Very, very tired.

After spending a total of 5 hours in the car we finally got Jonathan AND Christopher back, but Jonathan's bag didn't show up, so that's no good. It's nice to see them again (my hyper activity failed after 5 hours in that car.) and all that jazz. Jonathan brought Seasons 1-3 of Family Guy with him, so...heh...we managed to get to sleep about 4:30 AM, not too late for me but we woke up at 8:15-ish for church, so, I'm running low on sleep. :-/

I got a couple compliments on my haircut at church, which really makes me happy, heh...apparantly it "amuses" Sho...I'm wondering what that's all about.

I'm not feeling too great, so 'll be heading out now...

Woot.

I wrote another letter to Elizabeth.

It's in the mail.

I'm hyper.

I've been listening to techno for 597 minutes and 37 seconds.

Heh.

10 hours.

That's a long time.

I may not sleep tonight.

I'm just that hyper.

I woke up to "Timothy, it's Ben Anible, he's planning airsoft."

"Whaa..."

*dad hands me phone*

"*incoherent noises from me* ...hello!"

Ben Anible, Ben and Daniel C, Benjamin and Nolan M, Peter and I all went down to a little-used trail on South Hill and played airsoft (I tried to get sam and mike to come and Ben Myers wasn't around) It was lots of fun and I think everyone had a good time.

I just ordered two pizzzzas, and I'm really hungry. Woo!

I've had a full weekend + Monday. Today was kinda getting back into life. I mowed two lawns (30 bucks!) which took 3 and 1/2 to 4 hours, argued with Mom about her attempts to try and make me look lazy and incompetent, same old, really. I'm happy about the Philmont crew getting back, I haven't had enough people to chat with online as of late. It will also be nice having more people back at church.

And I've just now been informed I have a dental appointment tomorrow.

Poop.

Sunday was fun, we played Ultimate Structure Ball Tag at Belle Sherman with a bunch of people, with limited injuries. Sho, Mike, and Sam came to my house afterwards and we chilled. Saturday I walked 5 miles with Paul, Zach, and Ben to get Ben a ball for Ultimate Structure Ball Tag. It was a special ball. It was a long walk. I also went to Sam's garage sale for a few hours that morning, and we sat around and mocked the people we were ripping off sold things and he showed me True Crime (he just got it recently), which didn't look bad.

As for today, I've started to plan out my new computer (I will build it, of course) to be purchased next summer. It will probably end up being about 1500 dollars, depending on whether or not I buy a new moniter. If I do buy a new moniter, it will be afterwards. I'll just take the moniter from this one (as well as the woot-tacular speakers) and just stick the moniter I got from Sam (I bought an old P1 233 mhz w/moniter and printer for 30 bucks) which is semi-decent on here. Currently the specs of this new computer are as follows:

»Black Full-Tower ATX Case (with acryllic case window and 420W PSU) - $91

» AMD Athlon 64 3400+, 512k L2 Cache - $293

» Western Digital Raptor 74GB 10,000RPM SATA Hard Drive, Model WD740GD - $170

» Sapphire ATI Radeon 9800Pro Video Card, 256MB DDRII, 256-bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP - $289

»2x Mushkin 184 Pin 512MB DDR PC-3200 - $150

» ASUS "K8N-E Deluxe" NVIDIA nForce3 Chipset Motherboard For AMD Socket 754 CPU - $144

» Western Digital 80GB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive - $117

» Sony Black 52x32x52 Internal IDE CD-RW Drive - $29

»Black Logitech Keyboard - $11

» Logitech Red Performance Optical Mouse PS2/ USB, Model "MX510" - $43

»Windows XP Pro (w/ SP1) - $140

That adds up to about $1550, including shipping. The moniter:

NEC/MITSUBISHI LCD1760NXBK-1 17" LCD Monitor

That adds about $25 to shipping, bring it up to a little bit above $2000 dollars. That's almost exactly where I wanted to land. Woot.

So Paul helped me out a whole bunch today (and it did take all day) to make this blog even more neato. In case you haven't noticed, you'll randomly see one of three themes = red, green, and blue as the appearance. They all look the same at the core, it's just different colors. We've both put plenty of effort into it, and I think we did a good job. Huzzah.

I also created a poll, at the bottom of the sidebar. I'm interested in what everyone prefers. Go. vote. And comment. Vote and comment. :-D

IN ADDITION....

I'm being forced to--err...I'd like to apologize to Gwen for speaking the truth being mean and exercising my rights asking her not to comment so much. It was very brave wrong of me and I have no regrets about it whatsoever shouldn't have done that.

I am actually sorry though. :-)

Come baaaaaaaaack!

I feel a good bit better today, but I'm still coughing enough to make it apparant that I am indeed sick. I managed to do 200/225 sit ups, 80/90 push ups, and 200/225 squats last night. I lost count after I got to the 6th set, so I might have done 9, I'm not too sure. My parents were nice and let me skip an orthodontics appointment today, though there's some garage sale thingy we have to take stuff to. I'm hoping tomorrow I'll be all cured.

Paul gave me a nifty idea. In a couple of days I'm gonna try and set this up so that it randomly chooses between 3 color templates, all of them would be like this, only one would be based off green, another red, maybe yellow, I'm not really sure. I need to learn more about CSS before I try anything, though. Don't expect anything special for a while.

I am very, very bored. I can't go anywhere, I can't see anyone, and I have nothing I want to do. Grr. I didn't go running today, because it was raining, I woke up 2:00, and I didn't really feel like it. I wanna get better. Now. *whine* I finally got this here site working at all resolutions and browsers, which I am mighty proud of. Even 800x600.

I feel like 1% better though. I'm not sneezing as much and my coughing is down a little. Hopefully I can be...doing stuff...other than sitting here...tomorrow or Saturday. Hopefully. Of course as soon as I'm better I have four lawns to mow. That's really something to look forward to. Woo. In the meantime I read a a total of 15 pages of previews on Fable. It's looking good. Speaking of which I finally put the order on for Halo 2 (11/9)and Fable (9/14), AND I ordered those three thinkgeek shirts. Woo. 9 days till Christopher and Jonathan get here.

I keep wondering if I should save up for Doom 3. It might be worth getting.

In honour (that's the English spelling...I like it better) of the 200th post, I have redesigned the blog! It's not 100% done as of right now, but I like it. Lemme know what you think, or if it doesn't display correctly. Most of the changes are pretty obvious, but some you might not have noticed. I dropped the header down a bit, and added a border on the bottom of the mood. I removed the bottom and right borders and the sidebar and changed the existing ones to dashed. Overall, I think this works a lot better.

Enjoy. At least, I hope you will.

And if you're using 800x600 resolution - don't even start with me. I refuse to go to any great lengths to make this blog work for you. 'Nuff said. I checked all the IPs and as far as I can tell nobody from New York is using 800x600.

This is post # 200....woo! Everyone do a dance!

I take it back....please don't. Please. Don't. Especially Sho. Sho...don't dance.

<.< <----(for those who don't know, that's a shifty-eyed face.) >.>

I'm still sick, I don't feel much different than yesterday. I'm gonna go running soon, I'm gonna try and do a little more than a mile this time, since a little less was too short. It's a nice day out, too. *stops to cough a lot* I downloaded the new Bond CD, Classified. The first song was absolutely incredible, but the rest of the CD isn't too great. A lot of it are classically synthesized versions of popular songs and hymns...a few of them are ok, but I want stuff that's more original. One semi original song sounded really nice but was absolutely ruined by these screechy voices...argh. I was going to buy the CD, but I'm thinking about just deleting all the songs I don't like, which is ending up to be about half the CD. They did have a really nice version of a hymn I like...I can't remember the name though. Oh well. I managed to do the same workout last night as I did before, only 10 more push ups this time. I got even more motivated to do this stuff as I was talking to Zach (from Ohio). He and Patrick did 1000 crunches without stopping (they regretted it afterwards, but they did it nonetheless). I mean, I might be able to do 400, maybe 500....Zach does 600 every other night. Oh well. I suppose if I work hard enough I'll get there eventually. Heh.

*coughs some more*

Keep posting comments...they make me happy! Time to go running.

EDIT: So I checked out the distances with my bike's spedometer. Yesterday I did about .85 miles (possibly .9), today I did 1.15. My bike isn't quite set correctly, so it displays about 1/10 mile over. It said the shorter route was like .96, and that the longer route was 1.26. Anyways, I'll stick to the longer route from now on.

Guess who's even MORE sick today! I've been sneezing and coughing a lot. I feel good though. I did 150 sit ups, 60 push ups, and 100 squats over a period of like 20-25 minutes last night...and I was gonna go for a mile run this morning but having a cold really isn't helpful. I may just do it anyways. I don't know how far a mile would be around here, but I figure if I just run hard for 10 minutes I'll have done at least one mile. I run a 7 - 7 1/2 minute mile, so...

I've begun the process of looking for a new background...Greg showed me a really cool one but I deleted it like 5 months ago not realizing that it could be used for repeats. Bah. I was gonna have a dentist appointment and a haircut today, but being sick sorta puts a damper on such things.

One more thing. I discovered that some people don't know how to comment on here.

...

The link at the bottom of the post "RETRIBUTION" is the link for making comments. I thought it was obvious...but I guess not. Now comment! Make comments! Make me look cool and popular!

EDIT: (because i don't want to waste my 200th post) I just ran a mile in 7 minutes...that felt good.

I'm beginning to feel better...I stilll miss them all really badly...but I can enjoy doing stuff now, at least. I've already started to see the effects of camp on me...the positive ones, that is. :-P I did push ups and sit ups for like 20 minutes last night, and started reading my Bible again (from now on referred to as Quiet Time...called thus because it's like my 20 minutes to spend with God, no music, games, or phone, etc., while reading/writing). I'm starting to feel better about myself...a bit. Today I'm gonna put a pre-order on Halo 2 and Fable, then my mom is gonna order three shirts from Think Geek (1 2 and 3). I put a letter to Elizabeth in the mail...I'm still waiting for Maria to send me a reply to my email, and I spent 30 some odd minutes talking to Amanda and Patrick on the phone...(Amanda left her suitcase at camp. *snicker*)...anyways! I have pictures of all the camp people, but most of em are really bad. I'll wait for Daniel or Emma or someone to scan some up. Tomorrow I'll get a haircut...much needed one. I may try spiking my hair a little bit...I remember it looked good in 6th grade when Jonathan did it to my hair, and my hair hasn't really changed much since then, so it's worth a shot. Speaking of Jonathan....CHRISTOPHER AND JONATHAN ARE COMING!! For all those uninformed, Christopher got shipped out of Iraq a few weeks ago, and he's in Germany. He and Jonathan will get here on the 21st. I'm looking forward to that. I also mowed one lawn today...beyond that, I haven't done much so far. Gwen, Eileen, and Tasnah said they were gonna play frisbee, but I guess they decided not to or something.

I also have a cold. Yucky.

Camp was awesome. Just plain awesome. Emotionally... it may be the hardest thing I've ever done, waving my friends goodbye for another year. But it was just so awesome. The title ">.<" is more because my feeling of pain is overpowering the joy from having been at camp.

For those of you who aren't clued in, I went to Word of Life from Friday to today. WoL is a Christian camp in the Adirondacs, by Schroon Lake. The camp is an island - about 1 mile in circumference. We left Friday and drove 5 hours and stayed at a 100% RV campground which we thought was a real campground - it was packed with RVs and trailers. We spent the night there and left for WoL after getting some breakfast (it was only like 15 minutes away from the campground). We got ourselves registered and took the ferry to the island. I was in the same cabin as Daniel (we weren't lucky enough to get a cabin with the Ohio guys) per request and we had two really cool counselors. The Counselors are students at the WoL Bible Institute. As a part of their work they stay as counselors for 9 weeks. Our main counselor, Adam, was a second-year student. He really has gotta be one of the coolest guys I've ever met. He was really funny, and helped me figure out a lot of stuff that I just didn't understand about my life. Our other counselor, Anthony, was also really funny. He was always smiling and was shamefully easy to mock. His mind was something like that of a fish. "Man I had the worst day...well...it was ok....(5 minutes later)....it was great!" Both guys were really cool. Adam and I had these really painful yet amusing fights....the whole point was for me to slap him...we seriously jumped around in the food court (the Snack Shack) for an hour before I finally was able to slap him twice. He was slapping me really hard though! Anyways...*cough*

For me, this week was purely a learning experience. In talking with Adam I realized I was so clueless when it came to my perspective on God's plan, will, and desire. I've been too confident in myself - I thought I had it all figured out. Until I had talked with Adam, I really was almost suicidal. I was really hating on myself...it wasn't cool. I'm all good now...no worries...it's kinda weird to explain why..but...I sorta felt like I had nothing unique to me. A bunch of little stuff I kept messing up with (like tripping...I do take pride in being very well balanced) added up and just drove me nuts. It sounds stupid...but I don't feel like explaining it all.

The main reason I go to WoL is to see my friends from Ohio. There's a lot of them now - Maria, Jessica, Patrick, Elizabeth, Amanda, Zach, Josh...and I think that's most of the group I had met already. I met a bunch of people this year that they brought along - Camdon, Jeremy, Danielle, and...oh I can't remember her name....she was 13, but by some heavenly power she looked 21. Moving on. I also met a handful of other people...there was another Amanda, who live some 5 hours away from us...and thenthere were two 13-14 year old girls, Liz and Jackie, who were completely obsessed with the possibility of my being French. Of which there is none. They live within two hours from me, at least, they never said gave any landmarks as to where they lived....I have their address though. I have a lot of addresses actually. Which makes me happy. Anyways, there were a bunch of people in my cabin worth getting to know....CJ, Brian and Brian...I also got to meet Emma's two cousins, Jodi and Luke. Jodi was really nice, as was Luke. Luke followed me around a little more than I would have preferred, but that's okay. It only really bothered me when I was trying to talk with Elizabeth. But that's another story for another day. Which, I can assure you, won't come.

Overall...an awesome week. I barely managed to keep from crying this morning (at 8:00) as we waved goodbye to them. This whole thing has reminded me to get back into emailing with them again, which I've failed to do all year. I don't wanna rant too much more, I'm off to write some emails.
